About LevyIO
Free tax calculators. IRS-sourced data. No signup. No data collected.
Why LevyIO Exists
Most American taxpayers do not need full-service tax preparation software to answer a simple question. They need a fast, trustworthy estimate: what will I owe if I take this job? how much of this bonus will I keep? if I sell these shares, what's the damage? The tools that answer those questions are often hidden behind email walls, upsells, or interfaces optimized for conversion rather than clarity.
LevyIO was built to change that. Every calculator on this Site is free. None require an email address, phone number, or account. Nothing you type is transmitted off your device. You close the tab and it's gone. The goal is a single thing: give you a defensible number in under thirty seconds.
What We Offer
LevyIO publishes 22 tax calculators covering the situations that come up most often for individual filers, self-employed workers, small business owners, investors, and families. Core tools include:
- Income tax and paycheck — federal brackets, withholding, FICA, and take-home pay.
- Self-employment and 1099 — SE tax, quarterly estimates, and side-hustle modeling.
- Capital gains and crypto — short-term vs long-term, cost basis, and digital assets.
- Property, sales, and estate — state-specific property effective rates, local sales, and gift/estate thresholds.
- Credits and deductions — itemized vs standard, common credits, and phase-out ranges.
- Specialty situations — bonuses, overtime, marriage, hourly-to-salary, effective rate, tax refund, tip, and tax bracket lookups.
Alongside the calculators, we publish long-form guides explaining how each tax actually works, what the IRS rules say, where people commonly go wrong, and how to think through trade-offs before seeing a professional.
Our Methodology
Every calculator implements the official IRS formula for the 2026 tax year. We pull bracket thresholds, standard deduction amounts, FICA wage bases, contribution limits, and phase-out ranges from IRS Revenue Procedures, published IRS instructions (Form 1040, Schedule SE, Form 8949, Form 706, and related), and the Internal Revenue Code itself where source clarity is required.
Where calculators involve state taxes, we maintain state-specific tables based on each state's department of revenue publications. Where the tax interacts with inflation (for example, bracket indexing or contribution ceilings), we update figures whenever the IRS issues a revenue procedure or notice. For our full approach, see the Methodology page.
The Team Behind LevyIO
LevyIO is founded and edited by Brazora Monk, a software engineer with a decade of experience building data-intensive web platforms and an obsession with primary-source tax data. Brazora is personally responsible for editorial direction, methodology, and final review of all calculator math on this site.
We are not a CPA firm — we do not prepare tax returns, represent taxpayers before the IRS, or give individualized tax advice. What we do is build accurate, source-backed calculators and explain the underlying rules in plain English.
Editorial oversight: All calculator formulas and long-form articles are reviewed against the published IRS Revenue Procedures, Internal Revenue Code sections, and IRS form instructions before publication. Every year — and whenever the IRS issues a revenue procedure or material notice — we re-validate the hardcoded bracket thresholds, contribution limits, phase-out ranges, and wage bases used across the Site. Our annotated source map lives on the Methodology page.
Corrections workflow: Errors happen; when a reader flags one, we investigate within 48 hours, publish the correction, and update the "Last reviewed" date at the top of the affected page. Material corrections are also noted on the Editorial Guidelines page so the correction history is publicly discoverable.
Independence: LevyIO is independently owned. We do not accept sponsored placements disguised as editorial, we do not run affiliate comparisons where placement is paid for, and we do not sell leads. Our revenue comes from contextual display advertising (see Privacy Policy for disclosure details), which does not influence the content, ordering, or coverage of the calculators or articles you see.
Editorial Standards
Every article and calculator explainer is written and reviewed against our Editorial Guidelines. We cite IRS sources directly, link to the primary publication where possible, and clearly mark estimates as estimates. When tax law changes or when a court or the IRS issues material guidance, we revisit affected articles and calculators and update the "Last reviewed" date at the top.
We do not publish affiliate comparisons, "best tax software" listicles written for commission, or sponsored content disguised as editorial. Where we reference third-party tools, it is because they are the reference implementation (IRS Withholding Estimator, for example) or because they fill a gap our calculators do not cover.
Our Commitment to Privacy
LevyIO calculators run entirely in your browser. Income figures, dependents, stock lots, crypto transactions, and similar inputs are computed locally in JavaScript and never leave your device. We cannot access them, we do not store them, and there is no "account" that might later be breached. The only data our servers see is the standard web-request metadata any site receives — IP address, user agent, and the page you requested.
We use privacy-respecting analytics (Google Analytics 4) to understand aggregate traffic, and we support the Site through advertising served by Google AdSense and other ad networks. See our Privacy Policy for full disclosure of cookies, analytics, advertising practices, and your opt-out options.
What We Are Not
LevyIO is not a tax preparation service, a filing platform, a CPA firm, or a substitute for a qualified tax professional. Every calculator produces an estimate, not a determination. Complex situations — multi-state income, business formation, large capital transactions, inheritance, audit response, and anything involving state or federal tax authorities — warrant a licensed advisor. Use LevyIO to get oriented, then bring your numbers to someone who can sign the return.
Accuracy, Limitations, and Corrections
Tax law is complex and changes mid-year. We aim for accuracy, but calculators cannot capture every situation, and published rates can be revised. If you find an error — a bracket off by a dollar, a state rate outdated, a phase-out ceiling wrong — email [email protected] with the page URL and the source. We investigate every report and publish corrections promptly.
